Day 1: Hanoi Motorbike Tour Nghia Lo. ~250km, ~7h
Easy drive on sealed road until Thu Cuc. This area has many beautiful rice fields along the road. Then head up to Ba Khe on a very quiet and less populated road. The final leg to Nghia Lo is simply beautiful. Stay in a hotel.
Day 2: Nghia Lo Motorbike Tour Than Uyen. ~140km, ~6h
The road is wild and bumpy. This is a mountainous massif, almost as high as the Fansipan: the Mu Cang Chai. From the top, we have one of the most beautiful views of North Vietnam.
Day 3: Than Uyen Motorbike Tour Sapa. ~140km, ~3h
The area of Than Uyen is mainly populated by Flower H’mong and Dzao people. Then direction Sapa on high twisty mountain roads. Easy track for 100km and asphalted mountainous road for the last 40km. Amazing ride!
Day 4: Sapa Motorbike Tour To Bac Ha. ~100km, ~3h
We head down to Lao Cai town, going first down and then up to the mountains area of Bac Ha. Before reaching the plateau of Bac Ha we turn off and ride along the Chay River until the village of Coc Ly (if Tuesday for the market). We meet different hill tribes who inhabit this area: H’mong, Phu La, Dao and Tay.
Night in Bac Ha.
We ride South, direction Thac Ba lake. Until Luc Yen, the road is easy and asphalted. Next, secondary road along the Thac Ba lake, Dzao and Tay territory until the traditional village of Vu Linh where we stay with our friends in a stilt house. The welcome from the host family is probably the highlight of the trip despite of the basic accommodation conditions.
Day 6: Vu Linh Motorbike Tour Back Hanoi. ~180km, ~6h
Come back to Hanoi via Son Duong. Ride at the foot of Tam Dao range to avoid the busy traffic. Arrive in Hanoi before 4pm.
