Day 1: Welcome to Hanoi.
On arrival at Hanoi airport, you will be met by your guide on the other side of Immigration/ Arrival check point. If time permits, enjoy a brief driving tour of Hoa Kiem Lake, the French Quarter and Old Quarter of Hanoi on the way to your hotel.
Day 2: Hanoi – Ninh Binh
Our guide will pick up you for Hoa Lu Tam Coc today. After two and half an hour on car, tourists will arrive to Hoa Lu. There are several temples and relics waiting to be visited like the Temple of Dinh Emperor and the Le Temple as well as many beautiful pagodas such as Nhat Tru Pagoda, Ngan Xuyen Pagoda, etc. Then, start cycling along the hidden road to Tam Coc and see charming landscape consisting of rice paddies and limestone Islets.
Have lunch at local restaurant.
In the afternoon we continue by taking boat trip in one and half an hour. During the row, tourists will have great time to relax and enjoy peaceful countryside scenery of Vietnam.
Overnight in Hanoi
Day 3: Hanoi City tour ( B / L )
Today, we begin with a cycle tour of the fascinating Old Quarter – 36 streets in the old-school French colonial style will show you a Hanoi of the past. We end our cycling adventure in the Old Citadel, and from here we will walk along the beautiful tree-lined boulevards until we get to Ba Dinh Square, site of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. See the humble House on Stilts, in which Uncle Ho lived out his final days while he continued to paint a brighter future for Vietnam. Then we will continue on to visit the Presidential Palace and One Pillar Pagoda. Afterwards, we visit the ‘Hanoi Hilton’ – Hanoi’s former central prison. The ‘Hanoi Hilton’ has an infamous history. First, for the incarceration of the leaders of Vietnam’s national liberation movement and later,for imprisoning US Air force pilots shot down over North Vietnamese airspace. All this should give you a good appetite for a great lunch in a local restaurant.
Enjoy some leisure time again in the afternoon.
In the evening, we will board an overnight train to Lao Cai, a transit stop to Sapa for all North Vietnam mountain tours. Stay overnight in the train.
Day 4: Lao Cai – Sapa ( B / L )
The train will arrive around early morning at Lao Cai station, near the border of China. You will be met by your driver for the 38 mile drive to Sapa, the former French hill station in the northwest region of Vietnam.
Enjoy your breakfast while waiting for hotel check-in, catch a few hours of rest, or venture out to discover the beautiful mountain landscapes and ethnic minority groups of Sapa. Your guide will take you on a 2 hour trek to the village of Cat Cat & Sin Chai and from here you will trek down the valley among the terraced fields and meet hill tribe people.This is the best way to absorb their way of life, cultures and traditions. Return to Sapa town in the afternoon.
Day 5: Sapa ( B / L )
A whole day for discovering nature as well as the different cultures of hill tribe people on a new trek in Sapa with a H’mong guide who speaks excellent English
We will begin with a walking tour of Sapa market, then trek along Muong Hoa valley from village to village around Y Linh Ho, Lao Chai and Ta Van area which is beautifully landscaped by terraced rice fields and the homes of H’mong, Red Zao and Zay people. Great opportunities for taking photos of breathtaking landscapes, meeting friendly hill-tribe people at home and work…
Have home hosted lunch in the village of Zday people.
Later in the afternoon Jeep or Van will take you back to Sapa for refreshment then transfer to Lao Cai for the night train to Hanoi.
Day 6: Hanoi – Halong ( B / L / D )
You will be met by your guide early this morning at Hanoi’s railway station. After breakfast you will have over 3 hours ride through the country side of the Red River Delta to Halong Bay.
A traditional style Vietnamese Junk is waiting your arrival and will set sail at noon today. Lunch will be served on board amidst spectacular views of the bay.
Today you will visit one of the largest caves in Halong Bay and included is a beach stop where perhaps you may want to take a swim or dip in the water of the Gulf of Tonkin.
Tonight, enjoy a fresh seafood dinner on the Junk and sleep on board with the gentle sound of water lapping outside your cabin window.
Day 7: Halong – Hanoi ( B / L )
Learn how to do Tai Chi on sun deck if you wish or simply watch the sunrise over the magnificent bay. Enjoy your morning cup of coffee or juice before setting out to the near- by cave on row boat. Watch for monkeys high on the cliff tops. Return back to the junk, where breakfast is served, while sailing around Bay Tu Long bay where the film “Indochine” was made.
Your cruise will end at noon and you will be met by your guide & driver for the trip back to Hanoi.
The trip ends in Hanoi
