Halong Bay is widely considered to be one of the natural wonders of the world. Hundreds of towering pillars of sea and wind-carved limestone karst make the bay an unforgettable sight, and one of the premier rock-climbing destinations in South East Asia. There is a wide range of climbing here. Some climbs are suitable for complete beginners, while advanced climbers can find challenges to match their skills. Our three-day, two-night rock-climbing, trekking and kayaking tour explores Halong Bay’s famous Cat Ba archipelago.
Day 1: Hanoi – Halong bay – Cat Ba Island
Depart from Hanoi and journey to Halong Bay where you will board a ferry for the trip to spectacular Cat Ba Island, the largest of the islands in the Cat Ba archipelago. Spend the afternoon exploring the National Park by bicycle and visit a traditional Northern Vietnamese fishing village.
Day 2: Cruising and Climbing Halong Bay
Cruise on a junk through beautiful Lan Ha Bay, an area of Halong Bay that most tourists overlook. Kayak into a serene, hidden lagoon where you can relax in the afternoon sun. Then, cruise through a maze of fantastic karst towers to a pristine beach on uninhabited Moody’s Island. After your cruise, our certified climbing guides will outfit you with safe UIAA-standard climbing harnesses and rock-climbing gear. With the coaching of our experienced guides, you can climb as high as you like to enjoy spectacular views across the emerald waters of Halong Bay.
Day 3: Hiking on Cat Ba Island – Hanoi
Cruise back to Cat Ba Island for a hike through Cat Ba National Park. The Park differs from other national parks in Vietnam because of the great variety of landscapes and ecosystems. Abundant in diverse fauna and flora, with 896 plant and 548 animal species recorded, Cat Ba is considered one of the most beautiful areas in northern Vietnam. At the end of today you will be transferred to Hanoi.
